Christmas 2010

December was a fun and very busy month for us. I think that is why I got so sick a couple of days after Christmas and was sick for about 6 weeks!


This is Kate's first gift from a boy!  She told me there are 3 boys that "love" her at school.  OH BOY! Since then she has received a "special" sucker from a boy at Valentines that read "I have a crush on you" and then yesterday she came home with a necklace and two bracelets.  I was talking to her teacher assistant at school the other day and she told me that Kate was the hot commodity in the class.  I think it's because she is so happy and kind to others.  Brent said he is already worried that she is boy crazy!  I have to say I had crushes on boys when I was her age.  So we may be ok.
Our Christmas season would not be complete if we didn't play out the Nativity.  It was a very last minute FHE idea so the outfits are hilarious, but the kids really got into it!  Zach was so funny.  He kept calling himself "Jovas" instead of Joseph.  He loved playing "Jovas" and got to play him at the Nativity we did with my in laws.

 

Of course with a preschooler this year we had the annual Christmas singing program at the mall.  His teacher does such a great job in teaching them so many songs.  I couldn't believe that Zach knew them all and could stand up there and perform for so long.  I guess he is a Chappell after all ! Ha Ha!

Christmas eve was spent at Brent's parents this year.  Lots of food and fun.  (I will have to find pictures--where has my camera been?)

Kate wanted to leave a thank you note for Santa.  She is a kind little girl. 

Thanks to our Aunt Amy, Santa gets the best sugar cookies in town!  I made sure to put one on there that had a good amount of frosting! Santa's favorite!

I love to see what the kids get each year for Christmas--but for some reason Kate was the only one I captured.  She defiantly is a girl!

Christmas night we had my parents and brother over for dinner.  I have to say I was pretty wiped out after that.  But am so thankful we had a wonderful holiday season filled with family.  We are so lucky to have family so close and the love and support they have for our family.  I am truly grateful. 

Santa

I can't believe how fast the month of December has gone.  At the beginning of the month Brent surprised me with a mini vacation up to Salt Lake.  We stayed at the Grand America!  It was so fun to stay somewhere so fancy.  I really felt like I was far from home. 

While we were away Brent's parents had the kids.  They took them to see Santa.  Austin was to cool to sit or get anywhere near Santa.  These years are going so fast and are going to be gone before I know it!

2010 football season

This is the third year Austin has played tackle football.  He loves playing (not practicing).  They had an awesome season.  They were undefeated (7-0) for the season.  I think that is why their loss in the playoff game was so disappointing.  I really thought we were going to take the whole thing.  Poor Austin--I look over and he was just bawling.  Which of course makes me cry--I am such an emotional baby.  Good thing we have many years of football to play!  Way to go Austin and Daddy (the offensive coach)!  You guys really worked hard!

a full week of halloween

I don't know why, but I think Halloween did me in this year. It has taken me a week to get back to myself! HA HA! It was a fun Halloween this year. First we had our 3rd annual Family Halloween Party. We only have one set of cousins nearby, but it is fun for them to see each other in their costumes. It also gives the grandparents the opportunity to see all of the grand kids as well. (My parents weren't able to make it this year) Brent and I usually don't dress up, but I found our wigs at Walmart and decided it would be easy to join in the fun!

Among all of our personal fun I also had to help put on a "Spooky Dinner" for the Achievement Day Girls in my ward.  I was nervous that it would be chaotic and boring for everyone, but they loved it!  Whew I am glad that one is done!  So on that friday we had the annual Halloween costume parade at school. It was so funny because Kate did not want to wear any of her props. I guess if she doesn't care then I don't either. I do have to tell a funny story though, when I went to pick up the kids after school I see Kate running around with all of her costume off except for her white tshirt and white leggings. You could see her underwear. I didn't want to tell her, but I finally asked her if she knew that you could see her underwear. She said she didn't care--oh boy--and what was her teacher thinking?

After the parade I was off to help with Luke's class party.  I am one of the room moms so I took charge of the treat.  Last year when I had to do this for Austin's class I needed something that wasn't pure sugar for the kids, so I came up with a witches brew buffet.  I think it turned out really cute and the kids loved it!

So we trick or treated on Saturday night.  I am not sure if the kids were sick of their costumes, but I was glad it was the last time for a year!   The kids were very excited to go trick or treating but the weather had a trick for us this year.  It poured rain--very hard rain.  I felt bad for the kids because they were disappointed.  They were so wet and cold.  I think they made it to 5 houses.  I guess on the bright side we didn't have candy around for very long!

It's not October if we don't see the witches at Gardner Village!  We usually go there for my birthday but we just went on our own this year.  It was a beautiful fall day!  Zach has been scared of witches in general so we had to prep him for these.  He seemed to be fine--hopefully he is over that fear!

farm field trip

 Zach is really enjoying preschool!  He is having some power struggles with some of the boys--but we are trying to work through that.  I am probably crazy, but I signed up to go on all of the field trips this year.  I think that I wasn't sure how he would react to going with someone he didn't know and he is my last so I want to soak it all in while I only have him.  (I have always had a preschooler and a new baby).  We went to the farm.  He acted like he had never seen farm animals before.  He loved it!  I guess he doesn't remember the last time we went. 


It was also fun because we have a family friend Mia that is in the older class so she goes on the field trips as well.  It was a fun day at the farm!
