I love traditions--especially around this time of year. For years I have wanted to celebrate my dutch heritage with putting out the wooden shoes on December 5th. I told myself I was doing it this year. I explained it to the kids, but said that Grandma/Oma (we can't decide what to call her) and I would put the treats in. They loved it. Costco this year had our favorite dutch cookies--in miniature! Later that day we went to the dutch store and met Sinterklaus (spelling?)
One other tradition I wanted to start was making gingerbread houses with my mom. I have great memories of making them with her as I was growing up. Since we still have tiny hands, I opted for the graham cracker houses, but they still enjoyed creating their houses. Thanks mom for the new tradition!
