traditions

I love traditions--especially around this time of year. For years I have wanted to celebrate my dutch heritage with putting out the wooden shoes on December 5th. I told myself I was doing it this year. I explained it to the kids, but said that Grandma/Oma (we can't decide what to call her) and I would put the treats in. They loved it. Costco this year had our favorite dutch cookies--in miniature! Later that day we went to the dutch store and met Sinterklaus (spelling?)

One other tradition I wanted to start was making gingerbread houses with my mom. I have great memories of making them with her as I was growing up. Since we still have tiny hands, I opted for the graham cracker houses, but they still enjoyed creating their houses. Thanks mom for the new tradition!

A proud moment for Brent--playing in a "Turkey Bowl" with his boys!

christmas tree

This year has really gone by fast for me. I felt like November hadn't been here very long when the kids said they were ready to put up the tree. So Thanksgiving weekend we put up the Christmas decorations. I do love the glow that the lights bring into our home.

more football???

All this time I thought I had nothing to post and as I was downloading pictures from my camera I realized I had a few things I had missed. Austin had an awards banquet for football. The team mom did a great job putting it all together. We had dinner and each boy got a medal. They had a great year!

"Austin getting his medal"

"The 11 coaches!"
Just when I thought our football season was over, Brent decided he didn't want it to be over :) ha ha and signed up for a tournament. It was really cold, so I only made it to one game with all of the kids. They played 3 games and only won 1 of them--but the other 2 were really close and against teams that haven't lost in years. The highlight of it all was playing under the lights at the Real Salt Lake stadium!!
