Our little dragon diner

We had a great time celebrating our Chinese New Year. Kate was our waitress. She wore an outfit my mom had bought in China a few years ago. She welcomed everyone to our "Dragon Diner".

We started dinner off with egg drop soup, then we had sesame chicken, egg rolls and sticky rice.



The kids love to hear about which animal they are on the Chinese Calendar, so of course we read about those and read about how the Chinese New Year came about--fun and learning--can't get better then that!


And dinner of course would not be complete without chopsticks and fortune cookies!

Chinese New Year

We aren't chinese, but we love the food! I thought we would celebrate with a little dinner and learn about the tradition! Stay tuned for pics of our celebration!

Valentine Bags

So I have been thinking about these bags since before Christmas. My SIL Amy had mentioned them and then I couldn't get them out of my mind. I used this as my template, but if you look at Amy's they are even fancier.

They were a lot of fun to make--time consuming, but easy. Kate has already put her valentine for the boys in each of their bags. They are just something fun for us to put a small treat in for each of the kids on Valentines!

Snow Mobiling

Last weekend we were invited by our friends Matt and Jen Tall to go up to Jen's parents cabin and go snow mobiling!! It was so fun! We got there a little later then we had planned, but I am glad it happened that way, because we were able to ride the snow mobiles up to the cabin in the dark! There was a full moon so with that and the lights on the machines it was a beautiful ride. We had dinner that night and the kids played the Wii while the adults just sat around and talked.

The next morning we got up and I made Creme Brulee French Toast and Sausage Egg Casserole--Yum. Brent and Zach were looking out the window and Zach started talking baby and Brent just kept saying yea. Well he finally saw that Zach's gaze was a little further then where Brent was looking and he realized that Zach was talking about a moose! Brent got some great shots of it.

We all got ready and drove the machines down to a wide open field and we were able to zoom around there.




Personally I love the trails--maybe because there is more scenery to look at. Anyway it was a great time! We so appreciated the invite and the wonderful hospitality of the Tall's! Thanks again for a great getaway!

Snow Fort

The other day Nana stopped by to drop something off to me. Boy she didn't know what she was getting herself into. The kids talked her into helping them build a snow fort in the yard. It turned out great and Austin had a great time making a tunnel into the fort and Luke loved spraying blue food coloring onto it. Thanks Nana for the help!

new addition to the family

So the kids beg and beg for pets. We finally broke down. The boys got some Christmas money so Brent took them to the pet store and this is what they came home with! Meet Spike!!!
