spring fever

kate gets to bring home little bear from preschool every few weeks. so a couple of weeks ago we took little bear, zach and grandma to the museum of art at BYU. they have a really neat exhibit from the author of the I Spy books (and of course it is free!!. the weather was absolutely perfect. I have had spring fever ever since--the snow is killing me. I just can't take it any more--I need sunshine and warm weather so we can hang out outside!!

Austin's project

Here is the puppet we did for Austin's biography project at school. (I have to use my embroidery machine whenever possible!)

St. Patty's Day

We had a pretty low key St. Patricks Day, but I still wanted to have some fun with the kids so a little leprechaun left a real gold coin (you can get them at the bank, and they are the same amount as a dollar bill--I wasn't sure--ha ha ha)for each kid by the box of lucky charms they had for breakfast! And then of course the boys had to have some green and a rainbow in their lunch!

Zach's 2nd Birthday

I don't know if you can tell yet, but I love, love, love throwing children's birthday parties. If I could make money doing something with parties, I would do it! It is so fun to me. Zach's party was no different, even if I spent very little. My idea for the party was based on potterybarn party ware that I had bought years ago at DownEast for nothing! I thought I will use them now--he does love dogs and cars--so perfect. And of course you can't have a party without goody bags and those were simple too! All of Zach's favorites--fruit snacks, bubbles, and a pencil with cars on it!

It was a simple party because I just had family come for dinner. We had the best "smoked" pulled pork. Recipe goes as follows: 1 pkg pork ribs from Costco, a sprinkle of kosher salt and a sprinkle of liquid smoke. I start cooking it in a crock pot on low the night before! YUM--tastes just like it came from a bbq resturant. Then everyone pitched in on the rest of the meal--great way to go when feeding a crowd!

I am so lucky that my SIL is into photography so she took all of these great photos! (oh yea can't forget the felt crown--also done by same SIL--thank you thank you) It was a fun low key party! We sure missed all of our family that don't live close, but thanks to everyone that lives here for coming!

I saw these little one's on this blog! They are so fun and addicting. I made this necklace for Kate to give as part of a birthday gift! I have a few more waiting in line to be finished!!!

why oh why

So the other day Zach comes sliding down the stairs and Brent sees something black on his hand. Brent: "Oh boy what have you gotten into?" So Brent goes upstairs to see what it could be and sees this....


Brent: "Oh brother Kaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!"
Kate: "Yes--I am washing my hands, I'll be right there"
Brent: "Did you do this?"
Kate: "huh? do what?"--with paint all over her face!

Thank goodness we have a 5 gallon bucket of paint left over--I am afraid that we are going to need it!
