autograph books

last time we went to disney land austin loved to get the character's autographs-so trying to save a few dollars I made my own to take with us. I went to the dollar store and bought small notebooks and covered them with paper I already had!

spring break

We started off spring break with a typical beautiful day! We took advantage of the weather and went to Thanksgiving Point, had a picnic and enjoyed a pony ride!

The next day the weather took a very cold and snowy turn so we stayed indoors and made brownies--sorry kids not that exciting!

goal!!!!!!!!

Austin's passion right now is soccer. So Brent was a great dad and took some tickets that a friend offered for a Real Soccer game.

The tickets got the boys down on the field to cheer the team in. They had a great time!

I made a couple of aprons for birthday gifts for Kate's friends. I am still playing around with the shape of them, but I think they turn out pretty cute. I put a little baking set from Ikea with the apron.

I also got a fun new toy. I told Brent it is an early mothers day gift. I got an embroidery machine! It's the smaller version, but I am still having fun with it! I know I haven't discovered all of its capabilities. I put a B on one of the apron pockets.

new conference weekend tradition

This weekend was General Conference. It was a very nice and relaxing weekend. We really enjoyed conference. Thanks to my sister in law and her sister in law--we have discovered Creme Brulee French Toast! Oh it is so yummy! I think this will be our new breakfast tradition for Conference Weekend!

1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons corn syrup
1 loaf Texas toast
5 eggs
1 1/2 cups half and half
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt

In a small saucepan, melt butter, sugar and corn syrup over medium heat until smooth. Pour over a large cookie sheet and spread to cover. Lay the bread on pan in a single layer. Mix remaining ingredients, pour over bread; cover refrigerate overnight (I have skipped the overnight thing and it still tastes fine) Bake at 350* for 45 minutes. Remove immediatley from pan to prevent sticking. Can serve with syrup, but its very rich and doesn't really need it!

april fools or maybe not!

In an attempt to be a funner (I know not a real word) mom, I thought I would play a simple april fools joke on the boys. I made them a "giant" breakfast--in actuality everything was tiny. I went upstairs and told the boys "I made you a really big breakfast!" So they were excited and then Austin saw the breakfast and said "April Fools" He told me later that he just played along with it, because I never make them big breakfasts! Kate was pretty funny. All day she would tell me there was a pink dinosaur outside and then she would say "March Fools"!
